1. Do you play video/computer game? Which one(s) or most recent?
I didn’t playing board games when I was about 30 but couldn’t really get into them. When computers came out with Pac Man and the Lemmings, I didn’t have the patience to play. How could someone waste time playing games, I wondered? (I can be a little square maybe). I’ve never been much of a card playereither nor had I even played Solitaire with real cards but I got hooked on Windows Solitaire for a while. That was years ago.
2. When writing by hand do you prefer to use a pencil or pen?
I prefer using a Gel type pen when I write. However I cannot write more than a sentence before my handwriting gets tight and ugly. I have arthritis in my thumbs so I avoid writing as much as possible. Give me a keyboard and I’m flying.
3. What has surprised me about blogging?
It’s amazing how many interesting and warm-hearted people there are in the blogosphere. I had no idea I’d fall into such a generous community. Frankly, I’m agog with the many different things I’ve learned since. Who knew there were so many wonderful writers out there?!
4. If you had a shelf for your three most special possessions (not including people or animals), what would you put on it?
The first one would be the Easter card my four-year-old granddaughter made me. The second, a bookmark my eight-year-old granddaughter gave me for Valentine’s Day. The third would have to be a favourite book but there are so many to choose from. On second thought, I believe I would choose The Old Man and the Sea by Ernst Hemingway.

I, too have been agog ever since I started blogging.. it has opened up a whole new world.
I briefly started playing Farmville three years ago, but after a week I stopped because I was continually letting my crops die and felt it was too much like vegetable cruelty.

I love that you also used the word AGOG. I don’t know how I came to use it when I responded to you but now it’s a REAL word because someone else understands it. YAY! I agree. Cruelty of any kind should stop. I hate to see anything dying especially if I have anything to do with it. Some time ago, I bought a planted BASIL and thought what a wonderful opportunity to have a live plant whenever I needed it, especially since it was off season. Ha! I can’t BELIEVE I loved it to death! Ouch. Tess

Have to agree with you on videogames, although I’ve been known to get stuck on Mahjong every so often 😉
As for arthritis – one of my biggest fears – if I can’t use my hands anymore, what on earth would I with myself!!
As for blogging – it has given me a whole new circle of friends so to speak 😉

Thanks for sharing, Jaycee. About the arthritis, keyboarding seems fine. Can you imagine if I wanted to be a concert pianist. I know what you mean about ‘if you can’t use your hands’. I prefer not to think about that overly much. Just had a thought. Just because arthritis might slow a person down, we can’t let it win entirely (eventually). Surely there will be some finger or other that can still poke some letters. Better slow than not at all. How’s that? Does that help at all? Tess

I do lots of things with my hands – knitting and embroidery, working with my power tools on occasion, hammering a few nails and such.
One day soon I will take up pottery and if I can make it, glass blowing too.
So.
If my hands give out – I dunno.
But I don’t have to worry about that just yet – will cross that bridge when I get to it 😉

Sorry for coming off so single-minded. I used to do knitting, embroidery and sewing but don’t anymore so I FORGOT other people might still enjoy them. Pottery,glass blowing huh. WOW. Yes, the warm-hearted people is what has suprised me the most about blogging too. Having been a member of various internet forums over the years, I learnt that you have to toughen up if you want engage in online communities because people can be quite cutting and flare up over nothing, so I was really expecting that to be the case in the blogging world too. I worried about getting unpleasant comments on my blog, but generally it seems people only comment if they have something nice to say! I guess the nice people kind of find each other, and start following and commenting on each other’s blogs. I can only assume that the…errr…um….how to put it…more challenging people in life, are the ones who never respond to comments made on their blogs, and never comment on other people’s blogs, so we don’t notice them as much as we notice the lovely people!

Thanks for sharing, Vanessa. I had no idea either that people can be nice in the blogging world. Some leave after a while. Some come back, but that’s OK with me. I enjoy the people who care to interact about common ideas, thoughts etc. I’m more interested in writing, trying new things, learning new things and smiling together once in a while. I played a lot of board game growing up and passed the pleasure on to my children. Now, with all the modern technology, my 20ish daughter still likes to play good old-fashioned board games and she has introduced the concept to her college friends. Sometimes old fashhioned is still the way to go. And I agree with you, video / computer games never appealed much to me, except tetris. My guilty secret. T

I like the idea of old fashioned and it’s nice to hear your daughter’s friends are learning good old fashioned board games. My daughter and her husband (almost mid-thirties) love playing board games as do their kids. So now, I KNOW your guilty sectret about tetris but I PROMISE, I won’t tell. I used to write and write in journals. Then I spent more time typing, and if I have to do any extensive writing, my hands cramp up. When I take notes, they are in EXTREME shorthand. But I can’t take notes on a computer. Go figure.

Yeah, it’s true. Taking notes on a laptop / keyboard,doesn’t cut it. I’ve been retired five years but I still remember trying to take notes at meetings to save time. Forget it. You are so right. I did lots of journaling and tried typing it up later but it turned out my writing started out fine and then disintegrated into such bad chicken scratch I gave up as I couldn’t figure out what the heck it was all about. When I was in highschool, my Latin teacher lived next door to us. She’s the one who gave me his trilogy and I fell in LOVE. Since then I’ve followed his ‘life’ to some degree and then realized he was interesting enough to study FURTHER. Thank you for your comment. So….what are YOUR responses to the same questions?
