What a spring this year! March was warm as summer. Afterwards April showers arrived. Now snow and bitter wind these past two days. The rain is expected, I agree—but it’s almost May.
“Hey, Mother Nature, where are you? Is my voice too small for you to hear?”
I’m little, I’m tough and I can bend in the wind, but here I am shivering. I’m too young to die so soon. I feel Jack Frost is back again. Is he lost, I wonder?
“It’s Little Tulip, remember me? Send sunshine soon, pretty please so I can do my job brightening up this garden thing.”

Similar situation in the UK and the Met Office have warned that May could be the coldest for 100 years. Luckily the Met Office rarely get these things right!

I moved to my parent’s house very recently and hoped to cycle to class (it’s a 30 minute bike ride, opposed to a two-minute walk I was used to), but from April 9, when I was moving to next Friday, there hasn’t been a day without rain. And it’s still cold.

Oh Tess this is so wonderful. And what my tulips are living as well. They are sooo confused this year. I have had crocus come up, peek their bright and cheery heads, take one look and they say, “Adios!” It’s not time.”
We still have snowon the one mountain cap that usually our planting guide in the spring. I have sweetpeas coming up that I planted, please Mother Nature, we need you now!

After our tornado’s and torrential rains, hail the size of golf balls a couple of weeks ago we are now back to the norm. I suspect we shall start seeing our temps rise from here on out. Last year it was unremitting, days on end above 100, even I who my husband calls the daughter of the devil (I think because of my love of heat) began to beg for just a day of rain to cool the concrete off.
It will come, spring will come I am sure.

Hi Valentine. Thanks for dropping in. tornado’s scare the you-knwo-what-out-of-me. We have them here too but not like parts of the U.S. I’m worried if the weather gets suddenly warm after a cold spell this year, we be getting more. I haven’t seen them but we’ve also had golf ball size hail. They’re dangerous, aren’t they, causing lots of damage. Whew 100-degree weather sounds scarey. Here we have high temperatures and lots of Humidity. If it was dry heat, I could take it better. What a name, daughter of the devil. I got it right away. Stay cool when you can. BTW, do you get dry or humid heat? Tess

You must be enjoying today’s beautiful weather. My dog is too. We got caught in a ‘blizzard’ of ice pellets yesterday. She looked like a drowned rat and was none too pleased…even though she loves snow. Summer, here we come!

Yes, it’s dreadful waiting and not getting. We actually got sun today as if to say, “What are YOU talking about, I’m right HERE!” It feels like in the last two days has been colder and meaner than all winter here. I’m trying not to complain too much about the current rain – we are subject to a hosepipe ban at the moment in the part of England where I live because there isn’t enough water after a very dry winter, so I know we need the rain, but why can’t it just rain at night and be lovely during the day!

A hosepipe ban just means that we’re not allowed to use our garden hoses. So we can’t water our gardens, wash our cars, or fill up little kid’s pools with them, we have to use watering cans or whatever – it’s just a way of getting us to cut back on water usage. The ban will probably be in place for the whole summer because reservoirs levels are low. We get fined if we are caught using the hose.

Oh. I see. We get bans on watering lawns when the summers get hot but they’re not that bad. Usually you’re allowed to water your lawn on alternating days. If your house number is an even number, you get to water on even number days on the calendar and if you’re house number is odd, etc. Thanks for taking the time to share, Vanessa. I appreciate it. To answer your question on Humidity Tess, Dallas during the summer averages around 70% humidity during the day (summertime). Days are hot and dry. Being from Houston where the average is closer to 90%, I always feel parched.
Yes the hail can be dangerous, causing a huge amount of damage to property and even killing people. Such is Texas weather.

Don’t we just love to talk about the weather? Is it because we have more time to think about it as we get older? I never paid much attention to it when I was working. But as far as this crazy bout of weather patterns is concerned, I think Mother Nature is as confused as we are with the state of the world today. In any case, the 2 days of snow all winter here in southern Ontario suited me just fine!

OK, you have your weather like and I have my dislikes. I HATE cold weather ANYtime. It IS true, we DO love to talk about the weather. Maybe it’s because Canadians are such a self-conscious bunch that they don’t complain much so they can take it out on the weather. What do you think.
I agree, Pat, Mother Nature sure seems to be confused. Hey, is she a junior senior thinking about retirement of has she already done so and not TOLD anyone. Maybe that’s why we’re having all this trouble with the weather?

Hi Sylvia. Nice to hear from you. No nothing yet but I WILL drop you a line when it does. I’ll have to get after my daughter to check the mailbox (she’s the one with the key). It’s nice I don’t have to go myself but I like things to be regular, which she is not unless she’s expecting something. I’m waiting for a book I ordered from Amazon. The last couple of days have been brighter with blue skies but it’s hard to decide what to wear because the wind is still chilly. Friday morning we woke to another white landscape but it was gone by mid-morning. What a weird spring. Tess

Our weather in Ontario (Canada) is finally picking up but it also goes from cold to HOT without any graduation in temperature. Imagine that.
