If we all give this a try, maybe the glitch will disappear faster. Am reblogging from:

Sorry, poem later – first, help for ALL my WordPress buddies!

We have located where that sneaky unemployed blockhead GWB hid the comment box check that has everyone on WordPress steamed.

On your Dashboard, left column, click “Settings.”
Under “Settings” menu, click “Discussions.”
On “Discussions” page, scroll WAY, WAY down… to just above Avatars section. You’ll find some checked boxes, including “Allow: Follow Comments.”

Uncheck that box.

Nobody really follows someone else’s comments, in my experience. But clicking this means that option (if someone DOES want updates on a comment they made) will disappear. That just means if they are hungry for your feedback, they will take the time to come back to your blog. Never happened to me because when there is a juicy comment, I copy my response to a personal email to the commenter and we continue the discussion there.

Hope this helps. And, as someone says…

Author: Let's CUT the Crap!

I'm getting a little LONG in the tooth and have things to say about---ouch---AGEing. I believe it's certainly a state of mind but sometimes it's nice to hear that you're NORMAL. I enjoy reading by the truckload. I'm a grandma but I don't feel OLD although I'm not so young anymore. My plan is to stick it out as long as I can on this lovely planet and only will leave it kicking and screaming!

  1. Mine doesn’t show anything about allow comments except for this section
    Comment Reply Via Email
*Enable sending comment replies via email
Follow Comments Show a ‘follow comments” option in the comment form
Follow Blog Show a ‘follow blog’ option in the comment form
My understanding of this box is that it allows people to comment on your blog via email without going to your blog.
I have unclicked it but it doesn’t stop the comments.

    • First, thanks to Cookie for reblogging this!

Roly, in your Dashboard, behind the scenes, as it were, once YOU uncheck the “follow comments” option, the box itself should disappear. But you have to go step by step in my directions to make the fix. Try again, and send me an email if you have trouble: sharplittlepencil AT gmail (you know, trying to avoid robots getting my real email address!!) Peace, Amy

    • Gee, Roly. I’m not very technical. The lady I reblogged from seems to know what she’s talking about. Maybe you can contact her from the link on the post. Sorry, I’m such wonderful help. Tess

  2. Thanks Tess. I didn’t respond to your complaints before since I wasn’t having the problem and didn’t know what you were talking about. Two days ago, I was inundated and now understand! Thanks for passing on the solution and saving everyone’s sanity!

    • Cookie did a marvelous job of not only USING this link, but SHARING it. Hope all WordPressers are able to benefit from this. I was an office manager (on my hands and knees fixing computer glitches, etc), so I’m glad I could figure it out. Worked on my blog… good luck! Amy (AKA Sharp Little Pencil)

      • Hmmm. I like “Cookie”. I’ve been called a lot of things but not that. Think I’ll keep it as another a.k.a.

Thanks for your kind word “Sharp Little Pencil”. I’ve just been going nuts like everyone else and have tried everything passing through. You instructions seemed to make a difference so I thought why NOT share. Great post and thanks for the help.

  3. COOKIE, the sweetest treat in the world. If I could, I’d buy a round of whatever you wanted. See, it only works if we all help each other. Mine went out to my 120 or so followers, most of whom are WordPress. Let’s keep the chain going. Now: Have you followed the instructions? Because there is still the box below. Log out of WordPress and go into your comments like a stranger… see what I mean? Meantime, here’s a poem for you. Bless your heart. Amy

  4. Didn’t work for me – the instructions didn’t match what was in my “discussion” section. Boo hoo!

  6. ANYONE who is having problems can email me. I wouldn’t be worth my salt as an activist if I didn’t offer help. If you have a gmail account, so much the better, because we can chat: I’m usually on after 9 or so Mon-Friday and sporadically on weekends. I’ll talk you through it, or if you have a cell, we can talk you through it.
Email me! sharplittlepencil (AT) gmail (Dot) com (have to write it that way to avoid robots. Memo line: AMY! Help, please! and I’ll keep checking my spam filter, too. Peace to all.

And shame on WordPress for not fixing what was their error in the first place. Amy

  7. I haven’t noticed anyone following my comments in a while replies to posts and comments appear in the orange box at the top right of the page. I kind of like that better instead of getting a dillion emails. But maybe some people like to keep up with all of the comments, and not just the author’s responses?

    Good luck!

    • Blogger had the glitches too? Nobody mentioned that. Makes you wonder (not that I know much techie stuff) what caused it in the firsst place. Hmm. Consternation. Thanks, Jenny. Hope you find a fix.

      • Oh, sweets, when you stop by you are always a delight. Do so at your leisure. I am beginning to settle back in, finally…between the A to Z last month and the hospital this month, I cannot believe it is already the middle. I do not feel like I have accomplished a stinking thing.

If you want to just grab features, use the lower menu bar for the best of what most people love at M3. I am going to be posting a few eclectic pieces this week to tie up some April loose ends.

Meanwhile, as you can tell by my late night comments, I am playing hooky 😉

    • Those boxes are driving me batty too and I’m still getting unsolicited “comments” forwarded although just a few here and there. Keep smiling.

  11. I already did! Thank God they finally sorted it out. Their feedback apparently says people WANT to be notified of new comments!!! I have a tough time keeping up with post notifications as it is! Thoughtful of you to reblog this.
