Autumn’s early light creeped through the bedroom window. Destiny bolted awake.
“W-who’s there?”
“Trick or treat my lovely.”
“You. . .”
A squeak intruded.
Thwack. The intruder crashed to the floor—his dagger abandoned.
“Who are you?” she stammered. Her hand clutched her throat.
“Cut! Print it.”

A scary scene in more ways than one. 🙂 Only 47 words? Great!

This one is different for me, the scary scene but because I’m not a woman of many words, voila: only 47! LOL.

I thought I’d try harder not to use all the words, which is just as interesting to end up as close to the limit as I can.

You didn’t mind the abrupt ending?

Sure it was abrupt, but it said everything that needed to be said.
Taking it at face value – I liked it 😉

Thank you Ghia. Yes, sometimes abrupt happens. I like that, but it’s a pleasure when someone else enjoys stuff like that too.

Thrilling.
And getting shorter all the time! I’m always wrestling to edit myself down to 100.

Nice one, Tess! I’ve got to a 100 word limit, my next target is 50… could I try 40 or 47 like you? I don’t know! I don’t even know about 50…

I did? Well, Valentine, if you have an hour to spare, we could do coffee, or lunch, or whatever. Nice to hear the squeak was enjoyable.

Interesting. Being a story person, I’m thinking..so did he get her? If so, why’d he drop his dagger? What was the squeak – was that the victim? So many dumb questions, so little time…But clever story!

Love the suspense! Have no idea why WP did not ping this back, but you are all linked up and in the book 😉 You are sticking to the low limits. Have you checked out the Hot Flash yet? xxx

Hi Red. Take a BREATH, woman. OK. Now, I thank you and am not techie enough to know why no ping back. The last round, I linked to the word ie: Squeak. Can’t seem to do it this round.
How do you manage to be EVERYwhere?

I did notice the Hot Flash and am intrigued. My days have been chopped up into mis-managed pieces lately. Do want to try the challenge, and I will. BTW, I’m going to try to stay in touch next month but have signed up for NaNoWriMo. How about you? (silly question with all you have on your plate.)

I do not sign up for nanowrimo, but I am going to write another book in November (a sequel). I also am doing Movember, finishing the new site, launching the RP blog, sifting the slush pile and probably putting the finishing touches on the book I am releasing in April…plus I need to look at my calendar because that cannot possibly be all I have to do. *sigh*
If you did not catch it from the WS Recap post, I am double interviewing the authors between the two sites.
I have to figure out how to warp time. I miss the blogosphere. ❤
And you will love the Hot Flashes. November's will be out early so everyone has time to try it and December before all the holiday jazz begins 😉

Nice to hear from you, Red. How do you do it? This is my first crack at nanowrimo to see if I can last…something new to try. Of course everything else has to go into hybernation.
Yes, I’m also interested in the hot flashes. I’m going to be missing in action soon but will try to come back for the flashes. Will be sending out notice soon.
