SEEDS

Morgan paced, red lips set in a thin flat line. Clickety-clack, click. Three steps forward; two steps back. “How can she get away with this?”

“The public won’t have a clue.”

She whirled a scarlet nail towards her daughter, eyes black as onyx. “But there are so many seeds of half-truths and outright lies here.”

“This book is trash! Forget it.”

“Grievous insinuations—still, she didn’t name names…”

“So. Is it true about Warren Beatty? Who’s Cesare?”

“Ssh.” Morgan peered over her shoulder. “Where’s your father?”

“Why are you whispering?” Alexa jiggled flawless, penciled brows. “Spill.”

“Nothing to tell.” Arms folded, Morgan raised her designer chin.

Author: Let's CUT the Crap!

I'm getting a little LONG in the tooth and have things to say about---ouch---AGEing. I believe it's certainly a state of mind but sometimes it's nice to hear that you're NORMAL. I enjoy reading by the truckload. I'm a grandma but I don't feel OLD although I'm not so young anymore. My plan is to stick it out as long as I can on this lovely planet and only will leave it kicking and screaming!

  12. I saw this mother and daughter so clearly – ‘the beautiful’ people. Designer chin, manicured nails, perfect brows. Life is one big tabloid treat for the daughter, and there are probably a lot of truths buried beneath momma’s indignation. Well done!

  14. I must agree with so many other comments…your descriptive narrative paints a beautiful picture. Great use of the seed theme as well!

  15. Love this…’…she whirled a scarlet nail at her daughter..’ You amaze me how you set up a scene with so few yet perfectly placed words. Also the way you bring the characters bang, right into the story, feeling the tension, seeing these two ‘beautiful people’ in their designer home filled with lies and deception. Brilliant this, fabulous flash 😀 ❤

  19. ditto on the well done – and highly creative as well as haile salacious ( or is it Highly Selassie. I never get that right. Oh well, never mind that!). I read the piece twice to really take in the imagery and dialogue and undertones. it was delicious. You are very masterful.

And I am very appreciative. Wait, as a woman writer is it mistressful rather than masterful?

Masterful? Awesome. Works for me. Mistressful is too much of a mouthful and is it a real word?

Thanks for the Follow. I do appreciate it. o_O

  20. Another enticing miniature. It strikes me that what you write often aren’t really stories, but tiny tempting glances into an unknown world…
And I love how you spun the “seeds of half-truths” 🙂
