This week’s prompt is … do you have to make that noise…+ 100 words
THE PARTY
“Newcomer neighbors. I’ve enough!” Lizzie stomped to the door in pink terry housecoat and slippers. She grabbed the broom from the closet and snickered. What good is this?
She slammed her apartment door hard and something splintered. Doors behind her burst open; cold-creamed seniors gaped. She pounded her neighbor’s door, stepped back and bristled, rubbing tender knuckles. No response. She whacked again with the broom handle. The door cracked open.
“Do you have to make that noise? I’m trying to sleep.”
“What? Sorry.”
“The party—kill it.”
“No party. Granny couldn’t sleep. We’re watching Woodstock documentaries.”
“Quiet down. Give her brandy instead.”
“Join us?”
“You have brandy?”

Funny! No thank you on the brandy but I’ll take a glass of red wine please!!! 🙂 ~Karen~

Fantastic, Tess! When I saw the challenge, my first thought was the sound of loud mastication – drives me nuts! Yours was much better! Writer’s Village captured all the points – loved the cold-cream senior faces! Splendid, Tess.

Living in an apartment–I remember well–you first learn to invite your neighbors before you invite your friends if you’re throwing a party. We used to have some loud ones. I learned FAST. Of course this wasn’t exactly a party but…granny must have been deaf… 😀

Woodstock documentaries, love it! My hubby is always telling me to turn the TV down…but good is music if it isn’t loud??? 😉 😀 🙂

I’ve had a few of the girls drop in for a glass of wine the last few days. There’s still some left. Would you like a nice Rioja?

Tess – I do believe I’ve been a little blue because I’ve been away from your flash fiction. Your snappy descriptions in one word or two bring the entire story to life in a way I’ve never seen it done before. I always know I’m in for sheer entertainment when I visit here. Wow, I’d love to have some of that stuff we were passing around at Woodstock way back when. Well, it would probably kill me now so guess I’d better not. However, I hear more and more about how a couple glasses of wine or even 2 shots of whiskey is good for aging well. I need all the help I can get!

Thank you, Sheri. You’re making me blush from head to toe but I admit your encouragement is better than any glass of wine.
My grandmother like a little brandy now and then and she lived to be 99. Her heart could have gone for another 99. What got her was TB. Imagine that. Otherwise, she’d still be hoarding the good stuff. 😀

Interesting you mention TB. The feds are keeping it quiet that we are at the highest level of known cases of TB since the 1940s. Yes, coming across the border and it’s not the Canadian border. We now have non-documented and unidentified individuals flying on commercial aircraft. Can you imagine what that will lead to and the innocent citizens on board that have no idea what they are being exposed to and the diseases we know nothing of yet!
