Revelation

Industrious winds seeded fragrant forests. Their buds burst in spring, and summer blew breezes for squirrels and birds. Fall leaves in mutinous colour rejoiced, then faded to lacklustre sleep again, until another spring.

Grandpa’s chest rattled. “Sonny, I may be long in the tooth but the grey matter still works.”

“Yeah, but you cheated…”

The cane with the dragon’s head whacked my ankle.

“Ouch.”

“Carry on.”

They’d arrived at sun-up; laughed; danced; screeched, and reveled.

My turn came; I hung my head but not in shame. Among the watchers, I knew one cowered. Mama would be proud of me.

Trifextra: Week Seventy-Eight

It’s a wonder how these brown-faced enigma face ever skyward: erect, supple and robust. Their feathery gold bonnets ripple in a lazy breeze. I’m curious do they know obvious secrets of the Sun?
